In the era of technology, there have been significant shifts between traditional and modern environments in education. The study aims to explore the benefits and drawbacks of AI-powered feedback in comparison with peer feedback in writing skills under SGU English majors’ perspectives. Mixed-method research was conducted via online survey and in-depth interviews with 45 English major students at Saigon University. The findings showed positive attitudes toward both kinds of feedback tools. However, AI feedback was preferred for academic writing improvement in terms of supporting linguistic elements such as vocabulary and grammar, while peer feedback was chosen for critical thinking skills and interpersonal skills. The study also received strong agreement on the combination of both tools for their best use in developing writing.
