Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools on improving English vocabulary skills for sixth graders, focusing on the "Hello" unit from the "Right On 6" curriculum. In today's digital age, technology-enhanced learning has become increasingly important, and this research explores the intersection of technology and education. The primary aim is to evaluate how ICT tools, such as interactive software, educational apps, and online quizzes, contribute to vocabulary development, student engagement, and retention rates. The study incorporates a mixed-methods approach, using teacher observations, student feedback, and performance assessments to gauge the effectiveness of these tools. It also examines how the integration of ICT supports not only vocabulary acquisition but also the development of digital literacy, a key skill in modern education. Findings show that the use of ICT tools significantly enhances vocabulary learning by creating an engaging and interactive environment. Students were able to retain new vocabulary more effectively, and their overall motivation and participation in lessons increased. By integrating apps like Quizlet, Duolingo, and collaborative platforms such as Google Docs, students actively participated in personalized learning experiences. Additionally, the use of online quizzes and interactive whiteboard activities facilitated real-time feedback and encouraged competitive learning, further reinforcing vocabulary retention. The study concludes that ICT tools play a crucial role in modern language education, offering valuable insights into how technology can enhance vocabulary learning while simultaneously fostering essential digital skills for future success.
